Typically I switch out themes weekly. We all know this by know right? But, what you all don't know is that Autumn is my favorite season. I know, I know, stereotypical millennial. But the colors, the activities, the warm clothes, all of these things feed my soul. The soups and roasts, casseroles and baked goods help too!

The last three weeks have been Autumn on repeat. We kept the books, kept the toys and spent most of our time outside.
Let's go over it.
Starting with my favorite. Books.
Fall by Ann Blades
Fall is Here by Frankie Jones
The Old Tree by Ruth Brown - this is a bit old for Little Bear but it's my favorite autumn book so we went with it.
That's Not My Squirrel by Fiona Watt - A touch and feel book that ended up being Little Bear's favorite.
Who's Hiding in the Woods? by Katharine McEwen - Another favorite, lift the flaps are a hit right now.
Autumn Babies by Kathryn Osebold Galbraith - Every time Little Bear sees a baby he says "bebe!" It's adorable so I had to get this one.
I prefer board books until I can guarantee kids won't tear pages. If I get a paper page book, like The Old Tree, I keep it out of reach unless I'm reading it. This makes any tears my own doing and the only person to be disappointed with, is myself.
Gross motor was SO easy! Take him outside to play with the leaves. I also purchased pumpkins and tiny gourds for him to explore. We enjoyed a ton of time outside enjoying the birds, squirrels, and all the colors and textures of Autumn.
Leaves, gourds, pine cones, acorns etc provided plenty of sensory input. On rainy days I put together a discovery basket. I filled a wicker basket with items themed around Autumn.

I also put together two sensory bottles. One had fabric leaves and flowers with small colorful foam balls and water. The second bottle I filled with broken sticks, rice, dried chickpeas and dried lentils. When turned upside down it sounded a bit like a rain stick. The discovery basket was the preferred experience this time around.
Little Bear was found to be allergic to sesame and eggs. We are working on desensitizing him to eggs. He recently graduated to being able to eat eggs baked int bread so I took my chance and made a spiced pumpkin bread. This resulted in a VERY happy lunch time and he's been enjoying small pieces since.
For fine motor I pulled out a wooden sorting stacking toy. Over the last two weeks his ability to get the pieces onto the correct pegs has blossomed. His Mama commented on his patience and skill recently.
Music is a playlist on Spotify. With some fun songs I've found mixed in. Songs include:
The Giving Tree by Plain White Ts
Woodpecker by Hap Palmer
Catch the Leaves by Woodys World
Apple Pickin' Song by Hal Leonard
As always, take what you want, leave what you don't. But this is how we did Autumn this year. Thanks for stopping by!
